Regardless of the critics point of views, Roy brings an atmosphere to boxing that can't be matched by any other fighter. He is the kind of fighter that the sport can't do without. Although his competiton level is not very high, due to the opponents he faces, Roy dominates whoever enters the ring with him. Everyone expects a knockout from the Pound 4 Pound Champ, but what we are forgetting, is that this is boxing, and Roy is the best boxer yet to come. He may not be a KO artist, but the accumulating effect of his punches usually results in a lopsided decision in his favor. 2.)Bernard Hopkins - With his brilliant tactical display of boxing against Felix Trinidad, Bernard has risen to the occasion on boxings mythical Pound For Pound list. Hopkins, who learned to box in prison has set a standard in boxing that no other fighter could match. He brings excitement and a unique vocabulary to every fight. Both psychologically and physically, Hopkins dominates his opponents. 3.)Vernon Forrest - No one ever thought Shane Mosley could be outboxed, after his defeat of Oscar De La Hoya, but down in Atlanta, Georgia, Vernon Forrest yawned during the fight. Since Forrest's win over Mosley in the amateurs, he knew he could meet Sugar Shane in the ring and create a sense of De Ja Vu. And that he did. On the night of January 26, 2002, Viper stepped into the ring, and made Shane Moslet respect him. Since then, his true potential has been let out of its cage. 4.)Floyd Mayweather - Lil' Floyd brings it all to the table. He had a stunning year in 2001, which mainly consisted of his huge win over Diego Corrales. Floyd has proved to be a champ by fighting with two hurt hands, and still outworking his prey. This however could affect his carrer greatly. If the hands dont heal, Prettyboy Floyd may be standing in the unemployment line. For now though, he is "Pretty Philthy Rich". 5.)Oscar De La Hoya - Oscar is almost completely over the rebound stage, but he has a few more steps to go. The Golden Boy has turned over the training position to perhaps one of the greatest trainers in the world: Floyd Mayweather Sr. 2002 should be an exciting year for Oscar, due to the demand in competition, and his recent reunion with promoter Bob Arum. Things look good for a mega-fight with Mexican foe, Fernando Vargas, so now it's all up to Oscar in the ring. If he beats Vargas convincingly enough, perhaps the next move would be Hopkins, Forrest, or a rematch with Tito or Sugar Shane? Only time will tell. 6.)Marco Antonio Barrera - He outclassed Prince Naseem Hamed, and silenced all the critics with his brilliant tactical performance. Marco is a true Mexican fighter, and will seek revenge against his foe, Erik Morales this Spring. He shows true potential for being only 26-years-old. At the rate he is fighting, Barrera is on his way to the top. With Morales standing in his way, it may not be an easy trip, but he knows that beyond Morales is a gold mine of possible fights. That may be enough to entice his will to the impossible. 7.)Kostya Tszyu - Did someone say Zab Judah? Everyone knew that Zab's chin was highly questionable, but somehow, I think deep down, Kostya knew it was only a matter of time. The remarkable performance of Tszyu over Judah was something that can manifest dreams. He made it look too easy, and for that purpose, he won't be forgotten on this list. There are rumors of a possible rematch with the only man to ever beat him, Vince Phillips, But Cool Vince looks like he needs to retire, and I doubt that Tszyu would have a problem with him now. 8.)Shane Mosley - Despite his recent consecutive loss to Viper Vernon Forrest, Sugar Shane is still one of the best fighters on the scene. Every fighter has their day, and Mosley will have his again. Shane may have not been mentally prepared for the fight with Forrest, and because of that, along with a cut, he was left vulnerable. Before Sugar Shane thinks of moving up to 154 Pounds, he needs to focus on a rematch with Forrest at 147 Pounds. He has been given a challenge, so things may not be the same the next time around. Who knows? 9.)Mike Tyson - What's going on with Mike? Everything. He has basically been barred from fighting in Las Vegas, and at the worst possible time in his life, he is accused of rape & kidnapping. We all want to see the fight between Lennox Lewis & Tyson, but at what cost? The fight was estimated to gross over $100 Million in Vegas, but that is no longer a possibility. Other possible venues include Staples Center, California, or Madison Square Garden, New York. A mega fight like this has to happen, and it's a shame that the Nevada State Athletic Commission had to be so stingy. Regardless of what happens in the fight, the show must go on. Give the people the fight they want! 10.)Acelino Freitas - This young guy seems to be the future of the JR Lightweight division. Broadcasting a sensational, KO record, his true colors were revealed on the day he stepped into the ring with the slick southpaw, Joel Casamayor. Freitas dominated Casamayor in great fashion, and left Cepillo wondering "What the hell happened"? With Floyd Mayweather on the move to Lightweight, Freitas can be sure of a fight with IBF champ, Steve Forbes. With everyone asking "Where did this guy come from?", Freitas is taking things one step at a time.
